Olivine-diabase is used as a refractory material in industrial metallurgical furnaces, withstanding temperatures of 1200°C – 1700°C for extended periods. The temperature in the hottest steam room is several times lower, so the dunite in the sauna stove will last a long time without requiring replacement.
