JASPER is a cryptocrystalline rock composed primarily of quartz and chalcedony, and pigmented with other mineral impurities (epidote, actinolite, chlorite, mica, pyrite, iron and manganese oxides and hydroxides). It is a semi-precious ornamental stone.
Jasper is characterized by a wide variety of textures: massive, spotted, banded, brecciated, corrugated, and others. The presence of numerous finely dispersed and unevenly distributed impurities results in the variety and variegation of the rock’s color.
One of the rarest, along with variegated jasper, is sealing wax jasper, which, unlike other varieties, is particularly suitable for use in baths due to its uniform inclusion structure.
